Introduction
The YFX windproof wedge brake mainly consists of a brake frame (iron wedge) and a matching Ed electro-hydraulic thruster that raises and lowers the wedge through links. During operation the thruster lifts the wedge for free wheel passage; on shutdown or power loss the thruster releases and the wedge drops by gravity to wedge between the wheel and rail tread, firmly anchoring the crane against wind. Single-unit wind-proof capacity is F=f×N (f=0.46), and the number installed per crane is set by wind load. It suits wind-proofing during operation and anchoring at rest for outdoor rail cranes.
